Building the Vision
The St. Mel Parish Center was built in 2011 after years of planning in a way that is consistent with the vision of beloved long time St. Mel Parish pastor, Fr. Richard Doheny. The Parish Center is used by all ministries of the parish for functions ranging from meetings, to lunches, to weddings, to concerts and many more.
It was the vision of St. Mel's former pastor Father Richard Doheny to use the property across the street from St. Mel's School to one day build a parish activity & community hall. There has been a strong a desire at St. Mel's to incorporate a parish hall that would accommodate parish events & functions, which would not interfere with everyday activities on the school grounds. Lead by Father Doheny's successor, Father Liam McSweeney, the new parish hall is now a reality. The Parish Center greatly improves the ministries of our religious community by providing group counseling and meeting areas as well as needed office space for our priests and deacons.
